My name is Joseph Kendell, and I am currently studying as a dual major in Interior Architecture & Design and Landscape Architecture at Utah State University.
From a young age, I have been fascinated by how much design plays a role in the human experience. This interest has led me to the world of thematic and experiential design, where one gets the opportunity to tell stories with out-of-the-ordinary designs. My involvement with multiple programs has provided me with unique opportunities to grow my skills and expand my knowledge.
So far at Utah State University, I’ve studied abroad in Japan, investigating the transition from historical to modern design, and have represented the University in New York City during New York Fashion Week. I’ve also participated in and won a competitive design charrette for a new boardwalk shopping center and won a competition for a pocket park design on campus.
Outside of design, I enjoy playing music and was actively involved in my high school’s marching band and winter drumline, where we performed in New York City as part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. My time with the band taught me the importance of teamwork and how vital each small contribution is in creating a cohesive masterpiece.
As I continue my studies, I hope to develop the critical skills necessary to create memorable spaces in our environment. I also aspire to leverage my experience in both Landscape Architecture and Interior Architecture & Design to contribute effectively in the workforce, sharing my knowledge while gaining invaluable insights from others.
